About this event

Are you aged 10-20 and in England?

Are you interested in history and making a difference?

You are invited to join the group, 1020 Voice for Heritage, to co-design your own youth social action.

At this free event in Coventry, you will have the opportunity to visit and explore historic buildings, document your experiences and have your voice heard about what young people want from these places!

You can learn digital skills, film your experiences and co-design your own activities with other young people.

What will the event be like?

On 18th February, we will meet in Coventry, visit the City Gates, Drapers’ Hall and the Anglican Chapel at London Road Cemetery.

The activities at the different sites will be co-designed by you. You will be able to film your experiences of visiting the historic buildings and speak to other young people about their experiences too. Together, you will decide on your own social action to have an impact.

Programme for the day:

10:30am - Meet at Drapers’ Hall in Coventry. Find how to get there. There will be a short welcome session and you will be able to leave bags there while we walk to the City Gates.

11am – City Gates: learn about the gates and participate in an activity

12pm – Drapers’ Hall: lunch will be provided. There will be more activities and time for your social action activity (to be decided in the co-design session in January)

2pm – The Anglican Chapel, London Road Cemetery: Explore the historic London Road Cemetery and take part in the final social action session.

4:30pm – End.

How do I get involved?

Register now and you will receive a form to register your details to fill out with a parent/guardian. Your place is subject to confirmation.

As part of the event, you will also be expected to join two online sessions on Zoom. They will be:

- 17th January, 6-7pm – meet online on Zoom for 1 hour for a session to co-design your social action. As a group, YOU will decide together what is important and what impact you want to have.

- 1st March, 6-7pm – meet online on Zoom for 1 hour to conclude the 1020 Voice for Heritage project. Give your feedback and have a final chance to have your say on how to work with young people.

For these online sessions using the Zoom platform, joining details will be sent to you in advance.

This event is funded by the #iwill Fund through the Dulverton Trust which means the event is free and we can offer up to £200 to help with your travel and accommodation for you and an adult.
